CompostNow's 2025 Annual Report is done curing, and you can read the full version here.

Our Annual Report is an opportunity for us to share the impact composting has on the environment, in our communities, and through our partners. We're so grateful to everyone who contributed to another record-breaking year of impact in 2025 and hope this report leaves you feeling inspired and ready to take action!

2025 Annual Report Highlights

In 2025, CompostNow surpassed 100 million pounds of compostable material diverted from landfills since our founding - a milestone made possible by the homes, businesses, and municipalities who compost with us every week.

Our members diverted 20,605,960 pounds of food waste this year, and together we created 6,799,967 pounds of compost and delivered 2,574,370 pounds back to local gardens and farms - a 63% increase in compost delivered over 2024. On the community side, we expanded municipal access to composting across North Carolina, partnering with the Town of Morrisville, the Town of Wake Forest and Chatham County to deploy drop-off composting programs. Our Avondale Estates curbside composting pilot concluded its USDA grant phase with 544 households actively participating and 136,415 pounds diverted before successfully transitioning to a sustainable, resident-supported model. Our Garden Partners Program delivered $257,455 worth of compost to local growers and community gardens at no cost, and we welcomed 4 new Garden Partners bringing our total to 110 active gardens.

Our members also showed up for harder-to-solve waste challenges - requesting over 11,000 Hard-to-Recycle bags to divert plastic films, textiles, batteries, and styrofoam that traditional curbside recycling programs can't accept. We also reduced the price of our glass recycling service by 50%, making it more accessible for households to keep glass out of landfills.

On the infrastructure side, Southern Soil Works, our composting facility in Meriwether County, Georgia, took major strides forward, including a $2.5 million USDA grant award and a permit application to upgrade to a Class III facility that will significantly scale our processing capabilities.

Finally, our own David Paull was honored with the H. Clark Gregory Award from the U.S. Composting Council for his outstanding dedication to grassroots composting, public outreach, and community engagement - a recognition that reflects the heart of how we do this work.
